MAYORHOLD, THE KING'S HEAD
This photograph was taken in the 1920's/1930's? Presumably a ladies outing from the Kings Head, Mayorhold, do you recognize anybody in the photo? If so please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
APR 2010 UPDATE
I had emails from both John Seaman [firstname.lastname@example.org] & Keith Old
"I just found your website and the first picture that I looked at, No.1 The Kings Head on the Mayorhold I recognised my Grandmother sitting front and centre wearing glasses and
dressed immaculately I might add. My Grandparents Leonard & Agnes Pearce were the Tenants of the Kings Head during the 1920s and later had to give it up during the depression.
My understanding of the situation, I was told that the price of beer was increased by a penny a pint which caused a lot of folks unable to afford a beer.
Hard to imagine people giving up a pint these days.
My Grandfather was previously a soldier and met my Grandmother in Dublin when he was serving in Ireland around 1910." [John]
"The lady sitting in the front row, 6th from the left was the landlady at the time Mrs Agnes Peace, my Grandmother who died in 1965.
Her Husband was Len Peace the Landlord my Grandfather who died as early as 1951." [Keith]
