Above 1911

'The only boy I know is Reginald Palmer in the back row to the left of the very tall boy.

Born in 1898 at the Red Lion Inn Brafield on the Green, Northants.

His father was the landlord at the Inn and died there whilst trying to stop a fight in the bar in 1903.

After WW1 Reginald set up an upholstery and bedding business at 69 Edith Street, Northampton.  He died in 1951.'

Email received from Philip Boswell May 2019 :

"Standing on the extreme left of the back row is my father Victor Reginald Boswell. He was born in Braunston, Northants in 1897 where his grandfather owned a brickyard.

He moved with his father and family to Braybrooke in Northants to farm but when his father died he moved with his mother and family to live in Lutterworth Road in Northampton.

He attended Stimpson Avenue school.  I have a book which was presented to him by Head teacher Mr C.Jenkins in 1911 “for excellent work”.

He became an apprentice butcher and at the outbreak of war he joined the Royal West Kent regiment with his brother Eadley and they were posted to India.

After demobilisation he went back to butchering and eventually he and his brother set up in a butchery business at 212 Wellingborough Road, Northampton.

They then bought a second shop in Brookland Road where I spent the first 23 years of my life.  My father died in 1959."
